Mojca Erdmann reprises title role in Lulu with Dutch National Opera
This June, Mojca Erdmann reprises the title role in Alban Berg’s Lulu at the Dutch National Opera. The German soprano stars in legendary South African artist William Kentridge’s new production in Amsterdam, inspired by silent films of the 1920s and 1930s. Mojca stars opposite Jennifer Larmore as Countess Geschwitz, Daniel Brenna as Alwa, and Johan Reuter in the roles of Dr. Schön and Jack the Ripper. Lothar Zagrosek conducts the performances.
An acclaimed interpreter of the role, Mojca recently sang Lulu under the baton of Daniel Barenboim at Berlin’s Staatsoper im Schiller Theater earlier this spring. A DVD of her previous Staatsoper account of Berg’s antiheroine is also now available on Deutsche Grammophon.
Lulu can be seen in Amsterdam June 1, 6, 8, 14, 20, 23, 25, and 28. Click here for tickets.
