Mojca Erdmann in recital at Der Kristallsaal

This weekend, Mojca Erdmann joins pianist Gerold Huber for a recital at Der Kristallsaal in Waidhofen an der Ybbs. Given in a room of the city’s famed Rothschild castle, the performance highlights lieder by Richard Strauss in the year of the composer’s 150th birthday, and also includes works by Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Wolfgang Rihm, Aribert Reimann, and Mendelssohn.

2014 has included several prominent Liederabends for the German Soprano, of whom the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote, “You were only too happy to float ‘on angels’ wings’ in [Strauss’s ‘Ich Schwebe’], and Mendelssohn’s ‘Auf Flügeln des Gesanges’ as sung by Mojca Erdmann was a beautiful siren’s melodic call that to some extent passed into nirvana.”
