Mozart, Salieri, Schoenberg, and Schumann in Sion
Aug 15, 2013
This August, Mojca Erdmann joins Switzerland’s famed Sion Festival, celebrating the crossroads of chamber and vocal music. The German soprano makes her first of two appearances with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra on August 16, where she sings “Padre, germani, addio!” from Idomeneo and “Batti, batti, o bel Masetto” from Don Giovanni, both by Mozart. Mojca also offers an aria from the composer’s contemporary (and alleged rival) Salieri in “Père barbare” from Les Danaïdes.
The following evening, Mojca joins the Sion Quartet, Schönberg’s Quartet No. 2 in D minor and Schumann’s 6 Gesänge, both landmark works for soprano and strings.
