Mojca to make Asian recital debut in Tokyo and Seoul
This month Mojca Erdmann embarks on a three-concert tour of Korea and Japan that marks the German soprano’s Asian recital debut. Joined by pianist Gerold Huber, Mojca presents two recital programs that showcase the beloved lieder of Schubert and Strauss as well as operatic arias by Mozart and Puccini. On June 4, Mojca and Gerold take the stage of the Seoul Arts Center Chamber Hall, where they perform art songs by Mendelssohn and Mozart. In the second half of their program, they turn to the music of the opera, with arias from Mozart’s Idomeneo and Zaide. Mojca will also sing Musetta’s Waltz from Puccini’s La bohème, “Oh quante volte ti chiedo” from Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, as well as the perennial favorite “O mio babbino caro” from Gianni Schicchi.
In Tokyo, Japan, Mojca and Gerold delve into the rich art song tradition of Schubert and Strauss with a concert at Oji Hall on June 7. The program includes Schubert’s thrilling “Gretchen am Spinnrade” and Strauss’s mellifluous “Du meines Herzens Krönelein.”
For the final segment of their Asian concerts, Mojca and Gerold reprise their Seoul concert program of Mendelssohn, Mozart, and operatic fare at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall on June 10.
